Newlyweds

You're recently married. You've lived alone in this house for several years, and it has served you well. But now you and your spouse want to create a versatile space that feels like home for you both. You want a central living space, a command and control center for household rituals. You want your primary living space open, but not so open as to strip your kitchen and living room of their basic identities. What do you do?

Try this. Remove the primary wall between kitchen and living room and then partially re-separate the two rooms by installing a freestanding multi-cabinet divider. The "leatherman" of all cabinets systems, the divider is functional (and beautiful) on both sides. The kitchen side includes storage space, a microwave niche, glass display cabinets, bookshelves, and an entertainment center. The living room side includes a drop down desk (office), more storage, bookshelves, and a large flat panel section to display art. Beyond command and control, add to the functionality and appeal of the kitchen with stainless appliances, quarter-sawn oak cabinetry, and red oak flooring.

Enhance the spaces natural light with recessed skylights and bask in the tide of euphoria that a Minnesota February has to offer.
